Like a good neighbor ... basketball!!
When I was in junior high my dad put up a basketball hoop. I’m not sure who’s idea it was but when I realized the cute neighbor guy would come over and play it was an amazing idea!! I would be sitting in my room and hear the dibble reverberate through my window and I was out the door so fast to hang out.
I tried out for the school team and never made it but it didn’t matter I still enjoyed shooting some hoops.
Fast forward almost 40 years and “Santa” brought me one for Christmas. It is nice having it so close, easy to walk outside and just play for a few minutes.
Couple of weeks ago I went over and talked to my neighbor Greg who likes to tinker and work on motors. I had a gas blower & gas weed eater I didn’t want anymore and didn’t work that he’s taking off my hands. My lawnmower is also having issues, I’m sure it’s a clogged carburetor, but I just didn’t want to take the time to take apart and fix and he will! I’m so excited for my lawnmower to work again. Anyway… while I was there, I told him my basketball hoop is for everyone in the cul-de-sac and he said he wasn’t sure who’s it was. Since then, he’s been out there with his grandson several times. And my other neighbors were out there last weekend playing. Tonight, I was painting samples of colors all around exterior of the house and Greg and his grandson came to play basketball. I needed to the paint to dry alittle so grabbed a cider and hung out with the “guys” a little while.
It makes me so happy to have brought something to the neighborhood we all enjoy and gives us all an easy reason to hang out.
